I am finally getting to a Freelance course I bought over a year ago from Seth Godin. This is my first exercise.
What do you want to do? (Not your job, but your work, now, tomorrow, and in the future)*- I want to solve hard business problems using theory of constraints principles.
Who do you want to change, and how do you want to change them?
– Businesses, so they can finally take advantage of benefits of manufacturing principals, free up some extra time so they can have a life and a family.
How much risk? (from 1 [a little] to 10 [bet everything]), how much are you willing to put at stake to make the change you seek?
– 7 because that is the magic number Brian Regan finds out about at the hospital to get the right amount of pain killers. Plus if I want to give my clients time for a life and family I think I should lead by example.
How much work are you willing to do to get there? Be specic about the trade offs.
– I am willing to become an expert in the theory of constraints and lean principles and apply them to my own work. I am willing to learn iOS programming to build my own tools along the way. I am willing to start part time and build to a future full time status over 5 years.
Does this project matter enough for the risk and the effort you’re putting into it?
-Yes, families are important and businesses fund families. If the business can be more effective and make a better working place then families ultimately win!
Is it possible — has anyone with your resources ever pulled off anything like this?
– yes, I just need to start, refer to a Jon Acuf book with the same tittle
